What is a fingerprint card used for?

A fingerprint card is a paper card that is used to capture fingerprints and print impressions. The cards have a space to capture rolled fingerprints of each individual finger as well as plain impressions of all ten fingers together. Fingerprint cards allow for fingerprints to be recorded in a standard format that can then be processed, stored, and shared. Fingerprints cards are commonly used for Out of state licenses.

What is a Live Scan?

A Live Scan is an inkless, electronic means of capturing fingerprints in a digitized format and then transmitting them to FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement) / FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) for processing.

Why are you being asked to have a Live Scan done?

When you are asked to have a Live Scan done it is for background screening purposes (Employment, Licensing, etc.). The person or Agency that is asking you to have the Live Scan done should provide you with an ORI (Originating Agency Identifier) number. The ORI is a nine-character number and letter combination that FDLE uses to identify where to send the results of your background screening (Example: FL920010Z).

How does the Live Scan process work?

Once we set up an appointment, I come to your location. Upon my arrival I will have you fill out a brief form that will be used to input your information into the system for fingerprinting. I will take a picture of the identification you provide (This is a FDLE requirement).  The actual Live Scan process itself takes about five to ten minutes. Once I have completed capturing your fingerprints, I will ask you to verify that all your information in the system is correct before transmitting it to FDLE for processing.

What happens after my fingerprints have been transmitted?

Once payment for your transaction has been received, I will send you an email with two attachments (01-Livescan Confirmation & 02-4PRINTS, LLC Invoice). At the bottom of the email will be the status of your fingerprints. You will receive a second email once FDLE completes your background screening. Upon receipt of the second email please allow the person or Agency that request the Live Scan time to process the information on their end.

What is the responsibility of a notary?

A notary public is a person who serves as an impartial witness to the signing of key documents. They identify and inspect documents and ensure that all of the signers involved understand what they are signing.
